Back To School Inspiration
Hello, Smiling Faces!School is back in session! For many students, going back to school can be a little scary, while others are eager to complete their senior year of high school. Instead of dreading those days or rushing to capture the cap and gown moments, create an atmosphere to enjoy every moment. We have a Ninth Grader...High Schooler on our hands and boyyyyy...it’s hard to believe! Emotions are all over the place! I have been warned multiple times that picture taking will not be allowed this year. I will abide, but what happened to my toddler?! I may have to sneak a photo! (LOL)
As parents, we have to ensure we have our child's best interest at heart. Most importantly, our participation and ability to listen and recognize their needs are important. Changing from a care-free summer to a structured school year environment, can be overwhelming to everyone involved. It's important to have a routine that works for the family. Always attempt to avoid the chaos.Below are a few tips to engage you and your child, towards a successful school year:1. Plan ahead. Prepare each day ahead to engage in your child's school work, homework, and activities. Make it clear that education is a top priority in your family. Nothing is more important than eliminating the chaos.2. Bedtime is important. During the summer, children aren't always on schedule. Proper rest is essential for a productive and healthy school year. Ensure that your child is on a routine to ensure adequate rest.3. Communicate with teachers and administrators. Contact your child's teacher at the start of the new school year. Get acquainted with them and engage in your child's learning. Plan to keep track of your child's progress, subjects, homework, and activities. If your child has an open house, be sure to attend. This will allow for a snapshot of the environment.4. Volunteer. If possible, plan to volunteer in your child's classroom at least periodically throughout the year. Participation in activities is a good way to develop a relationship with your child's teachers and classmates.5. Celebrate your child's achievements. Be mindful of barriers your child has overcome throughout the year. Challenge your child to try new things. Get your child involved in after school activities and programs. Every child learn at a different pace and should be congratulated on their efforts.If you are preparing for college, take the time to embrace your new journey. Learn as much as you can and embrace opportunities before you. Parents, always encourage your child to be open and honest with you at all times. Notice the signs that may be questionable, such as bullying or anger. Bullying is occurring more and more in rapid forms and is a huge concern. There are many programs and steps to take if you suspect your child is a victim of bullying.As you prepare for the school year ahead, make sure you encounter some excitement and inspiration while supporting your child in the success of their future.
