How Are You Writing Your Life Story?

Hello, Smiling Faces!Happy May! Happy Hump Day! Hope you are having a great week thus far. Whew! It’s been a busy...productive last couple of months for me.  From work travel, to family functions and just balancing life. I was reflecting earlier in the week, reminiscing about the surprise birthday getaway for my mother. She turned “65” on last month and I took her to Chicago to see Hamilton. She was sooooo exited and full of joy! I recently heard from the poll experts, that more people are visiting Chicago than New York to see it.  Of course, I had to introduce her to several “Windy City” sights and good eating, although she visited over a decade ago. Let’s just say the Skydeck experience was a bit much for her, yet she conquered it! (Smile)Soooo let’s get back to my experience seeing Hamilton! It’s a must see! Definitely worth seeing. I heard the original cast will be retiring in July. I won’t spoil all the fun with details, but I left feeling more empowered to continuing making strides and leaving a legacy footprint behind. Each day we are writing our own story with every encounter with family/friends, partnerships, networking, career opportunities, business endeavors, political positions and our daily spiritual walk. Your legacy will be left behind for others to share and talk about. What story are you writing? Hamilton’s story is being shared in the form of a musical, lived out from “poverty to power” in American History. There were many moments where Hamilton didn’t let anything stop him from “getting his shot” at opportunities and a few shocking surprises as well. Be mindful of the shots you encounter and accept.  Okkkk...I will not spoil the fun! To my Memphians, it’s coming in July! Tickets go on sale May 2nd. Go See It!We are quickly approaching the halfway mark in the year. Can you believe it? With a few positive twists and unexpected turns lately, I still have a few goals left to master for 2019. One thing for certain, we can make all the plans, but God’s agenda will prevail. How are you letting your light shine? We often think that we may not have what it takes to inspire, empower or encourage others, but truth be told, we all have an obstacle we overcame or a hurdle we crossed. Letting your light shine means letting all that is good within you come forth, embracing what is to come. Where are you spending your time and energy? There is so much negativity around us on a daily basis that when good enters our environment, it brings light to the darkness. Be sensitive to the needs of others. Find ways to be a blessing to those around you and beyond. A small act of kindness goes a long way. It’s not easy to let your light shine if you feel a need to fit in everywhere you go. In some environments, simply smiling and speaking to people in a kind way will cause you to seem odd. SMILE anyway! Choose to be more concerned with being a vessel of truth and love on a daily basis than fitting in with the world’s standards. No matter what your purpose in life, there is an underlying mission: Living your life in such a way that people say to themselves, “There’s something different about that person and I want to know how to experience some of that peace, joy, and love in my own life.” (Positive plug from Valorie Burton) Well, it’s been through disappointments, good/bad times, unexpected tragedies and opportunities that led me to LIVING life each day. Life is sooo short. I mean... really short. Move past failures, failed endeavors and approach each day with gratitude! To live your life to your fullest potential, you must use your gifts and talents with a passion and serve others. Your faith and purpose is a part of who you are. When you free yourself to be who you are, you also free others to be who they truly are.Let your light shine!

Always SMILE...
