Hello, Smiling Faces!Happy Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Today, we acknowledge and celebrate the life, legacy and achievements of an influential leader, during the Civil Rights Movement. I am happy to share the very FIRST Blog Post dedicated to men “Man Monday Motivation” and I am SUPER excited! I am thrilled to introduce new blogging content for men only, on the 3rd Monday of each month. I will continue to bring content to my faithful subscribers and readers. Please share with others. Let’s dive in...I’ve been an Inspirational Blogger for a few years and thoroughly enjoy it. About a year ago, the thought of preparing content for men came to mind. After much thought and feedback regarding the interest, here I am. I took the leap! The reading nature of men and women differ, so I am looking at alternative ways to be interactive. Stay tuned! The first topic that I want to share is “Are You MENtally Fit”? Mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness and should not be neglected. Yes, you are the protector, father figure and the role model, but to achieve all these things, you have to be inspired and encouraged as well. Men need just as much encouraging as women.A few men that I surveyed, stated showing signs of weakness is looked upon differently than women. In most cases, men tend to hide or shelter their feelings, when in fact they struggle with similar things just as women. Men feel pressure to act tough and hide weakness. This can have damaging effects on your health and relationships. It’s the start of a new year and many are striving to keep the momentum going with fitness and goals; however, we have to also focus on our mentality and perspective.Regardless of what goal or dream you have, current profession or future career, it requires a certain mindset. We all face challenges in life. A change in perspective can make all the difference. Cultivating a growth mindset can help you focus on goals in life. If you want real change, you have to reframe your mindset. You’re not in control of everything that happens to you, but you are in control of how you respond. Your mind is your most powerful force. You can succeed in changing your mindset in how you respond to challenges, setbacks and opportunities. As you embark on this new year, focus on changing your mindset and how you respond to certain situations. Here are a few tips on cultivating a healthy mindset:1. Challenge Your Thoughts. What are you thinking? Is it positive or negative?Recognize your thoughts in how you are perceiving them. You may not fully recognize the depth of your internal destruction. Release judgement. Focus on your strengths. Speak positive affirmations over your life.2. Life Balance. Life is very much a balancing act. We are constantly moving at a high pace in achieving our life’s purpose, goals and elements of our lives. In looking at the various aspects of our lives; we are juggling family, career, and growth. It can be challenging to devote ample energy to all areas. Assess your priorities and set realistic goals to achieving them. Rest and exercise is key. You can’t be everything to everybody, but you can make small adjustments to ensure what matters most. Balance in all things are essential to creating a life you can be proud of.3. Practice Gratitude. Gratitude is when we feel or express thankfulness for the people, things and experiences we have. When we are grateful for the little things, we find more meaning and satisfaction. Being grateful boost your self esteem, enhance empathy and improve your overall psychological health. Writing down a few things you are grateful for is probably the easiest way to focus on the good things, rather than dwell on the bad things.Keeping ourselves mentally fit, is as important as being physically fit.
